Where it all started
While the Wellington Electric Bikes brand was launched in 2014, the team has been building and servicing electric bikes since 2007. Cliff Randall, owner director of Wellington Electric bikes, started off as a home-based dealership for Electric Bikes NZ in 2007. Daryl Neal started EVLAB, an electric bike conversion kit company in 2009 which then expanded to electric bike retail and rebranded to Wellington Electric Bikes in 2014. Cliff bought Wellington Wellington Electric Bikes in 2015 from Daryl and moved the business to 380 Jackson St.
In 2015 the business relocated to much larger premises at 55 Cuba St. At the same time Daryl moved his Lekkie, Smartmotion and UBCO design teams to 55 Cuba St. Today Wellington Electric Bikes has become Wellington’s largest specialist ebike retailer and a centre of electric bike design excellence with a combined team electric bike experience of over 20 years.
